Pictures Galore!

Our day today can best be conveyed through pictures! The only story that is a "must share" is from breakfast this morning . . .

There is a buffet breakfast provided by the hotel and the cafe where it is served, because of its design, has a side section where they tend to seat all of the adoption families (there are LOTS of us!). The table we were at was near another family who had adopted a little boy about Zeke's age. At one point Zeke turned around in his highchair and said a word/made a sound. The other little boy made a sound in return. Not long later the boy started jabbering in Zeke's direction so Zeke turned around and started "talking" back. It was hilarious! They were both so animated and none of us had a clue what they were saying. We didn't think to ask at the time, but there is a good possibility the boys were at the same orphanage. This family received their son the same day we did; we saw them in the Civil Affairs office on Gotcha Day. If we see them again we will have to ask what orphanage their son was at. It would be pretty amazing if the boys recognized each other and that prompted the verbal exchange.

Guangdong Province Folk Art Museum.
Brick Carving: Each brick is carved individually
before being pieced together in a mural.
This one was part of a larger wall of plain brick.
Entrance to the Museum:
This is one of two doors; the largest
found in Guangzhou. The man
painted on the door is meant to
scare the devil away. The other
door had a similar painting.
"Finger" Painting:
This artist painted the picture he is holding
using only the edge of his palm and fingernails.
We were given the picture as a keepsake.
(We also purchased a few more!)
Calligraphy:
The same artist wrote Zeke's
Chinese name for us. :)

Tree Courtyard at the Museum
Zeke's first introduction to crayons
and a coloring book.  He didn't
do too bad . . . watched how we held
the crayons and went for it. Then
he started arranging the crayons . . .
He is a member of the right family! :)
Zeke & Mama tickle fest!
Oh, those ticklish feet! His little
laugh had Mama in stitches!
Zeke's first full bath! He was in
with no trouble and had a GREAT time!
Zeke didn't even mind the water in his face.
Splashing with his hands and dropping the
ducks were the highlights. Mama washing
him up was just a minor annoyance. ;)

  6. This is bringing back so many memories. I have a painting painted by a guy's fists, fingers, and fingernails too. I took his picture while in China so I just had to see if it was the same artist. Nope. Different artist. Were you at the Chen Clan Academy/museum?
